Our podcast predictions for 2026 ๐Ÿ”ฎ๐Ÿ˜ฒ (Podcraft Pointers)

Hello, Podcrafters!

It might be the 46th of January and still seven weeks until payday, but did you know we'll have about 90 minutes more daylight today than we did on the shortest day?

To support this newsletter, please check out Alitu.com โ€” the best, quickest, and easiest podcast editing software on the planet.

I mean, in Scotland, it isn't exactly the most inspiring daylight. But I'm calling it Spring. Get those daffodils up. And let's have some wild garlic while we're at it! ๐ŸŒฑ

๐Ÿ”ฎ Our 2026 Podcasting Predictions

I'll admit, Colin had to twist my arm to do one of these episodes. I always feel like you'd need to make painfully obvious and rather dull predictions, or go cool, edgy, and end up completely off the mark.

But, after giving it a wee bit of thought, I was actually quite happy with what we came up with. I mean, I don't know if I'd stick a tenner on the accumulator, but I might put 50p on at least one single.

Peering into our crystal ball, we predict the intricacies of podcasting in 2026, covering things like:

  • What's the single biggest change we'll see in podcasting?
  • What podcast format or style will have a breakout year?
  • Which podcast app will have the strongest 2026?
  • What will Spotify and Apple do?
  • Will the podcast advertising industry grow, plateau, or decline?

The one I reckon we'd both stand behind the most is about which type of podcast is most likely to resonate and succeed going into this new year. Grab a listen and let us know if you agree!

Ultrasonic waves create extreme pressure pockets in liquids that can cause cavitation, forming bubbles that collapse with enough heat to flash-boil water locally.

๐ŸŽฅ Can You Really Make a Video Podcast on a Budget?

Video podcasters typically spend more than their audio-only counterparts. You need extra gear and software to make good video. This doesn't come free.

But I do think many video creators spend more than they need to. This is largely due to the sheer volume of information available. Overload leads to bloated shopping lists and a stack of tools and subscriptions that could've been streamlined.

As we're always saying: video is an option, not a necessity. But if you've decided to add a visual component to your show, we can help guide you through the process and set you up to get the most out of it.

Hello, Podcrafters! Anecdotally, I've watched a few of my favourite shows let their audio feeds run dry whilst they still happily publish new episodes on YouTube. This makes me sad. Hello, Podcrafters! I've given this advice many times before... Just keep showing up. Be consistent. Play the long game. On its own, itโ€™s solid guidance.
