Do Podcasters REALLY Still Need Websites in 2026? 🤔 (Podcraft Pointers)

Hello, Podcrafters!

A new year is always a good time to question long-held assumptions, especially in podcasting. After all, there's no shortage of supposed non-negotiables in this space!

To support this newsletter, please check out Alitu.com — the best, quickest, and easiest podcast editing software on the planet.

In this week’s episode of Podcraft, we revisit a dozen of them and ask a simple question of each: Does this still matter?

Before we get into the rest, though, here's one that deserves a closer look.

🌐 Do You Still Need a Podcast Website?

Podcast websites are often sidelined in favour of platform presence: a LinkedIn profile, YouTube videos, or posts on Instagram and Facebook. Even search feels less reliable than it once did, with Google increasingly answering questions directly through AI summaries instead of sending people on to websites.

So is building and maintaining a podcast website now a waste of time and energy?

When we asked this question in a poll last spring, most of you clearly did not think podcast websites were obsolete. I agree.

Websites still matter in 2026, but not as growth hacks. Their real value is as a home base you own and control, a stable place your podcast can live regardless of how platforms and algorithms change.

The good news is that building and maintaining a solid podcast website no longer requires technical skill or weeks of work. You can create a good one in minutes and spend your time where it actually matters.

Let’s look at how.

Mic Drop Fact: Your brain predicts sounds.
The auditory cortex doesn’t just process sound - it predicts what you’ll hear next based on context. This is why unexpected sounds (like a dropped plate) startle you.

⚖️ Podcasting in 2026: What Still Matters (and What Doesn’t)

Do you still need all the “must-do” podcasting advice that gets recycled every year, or has some of it quietly expired?

In this episode, we revisit a long list of podcasting essentials and ask one question of each: Does this still matter in 2026? From launching with three episodes and getting Apple Podcasts reviews to RSS feeds, interview guests, and even podcast microphones, we look at what still earns its place, what has changed, and what you can stop worrying about entirely.

Hello, Podcrafters! I've given this advice many times before... Just keep showing up. Be consistent. Play the long game. On its own, it’s solid guidance.
