Before you have ChatGPT write that podcast description... (Podcraft Pointers)

Hello, Podcrafters!

We did another round of "cut or keep?" on this week's Podcraft. One of the topics that came up was AI-written podcast descriptions. A podcast description being the overall summary of your show.

This turned into quite an interesting discussion. There's no doubt that, when given the right info and prompts, ChatGPT or Claude can write you an excellent piece of copy.

But does this miss the entire point of the podcast planning process?

If you either don't have the time or the inclination to write your own description, is this an early sign that you might not have the headspace or drive to run a podcast in the long run?

And, far from being a case of cutting the lawn with scissors when you have a perfectly good mower, this isn't simply about generating a body of text. Outlining and articulating your show's intentions helps you solidify your goals, commitments, and value offerings.

For the aspiring podcaster, this is an essential creative exercise.
