Without one of these... your episode is doomed 😵 (Podcraft Pointers)
Published 5 days ago • 4 min read
Hey hey, how's things? Welcome back to another Podcast Pointers 😁
We've got a veritable treasure trove of podcast-boosting goodies for you today! The big one is about that ..thing.. that every podcast NEEDS to grow. It's first in the list below.
But there's something spooky about 5s in here, too...
..The Take 5 Content validation method. The 5-Step Focus reset. And the 15 top microphones on the market - that's just three 5s, isn't it...?
Plus, how we sound treated a cave. Yep. You can even record in a cave now. Please do check out the video - Matthew looks a right sight in parts 🤣
Remember too, we've got our Live Podcast Launch Accelerator starting in just 7 days.
If you've been sitting on that podcast idea for too long, or you're struggling to get your show out there, join the program here. I'd love to help you, in person, get that show idea of yours out into the world 😁
More details on that below if you need it. Alrighty, on with the show!
Colin
Mic Drop Fact: The quietest place.
The Anechoic chambers at Microsoft’s Washington headquarters were built to absorb nearly all sound. This creates a silence so deep (-9.4 decibels) that people often can only hear their own heartbeat.
Showing up behind the mic with nothing more than “we’ll talk about whatever” doesn’t give your audience anything they couldn’t overhear at a bus stop. Your episode’s hook or thesis is the compass that keeps you on track. It should promise value to the listener, and then deliver it.
If you’ve been thinking about creating a membership or community around your podcast, this is a spectacular resource! Saves the guesswork and wasted time. It's a step-by-step course that takes you through creating a sustainable membership to give your audience something amazing, and grow an income around your show.
As teased last week. Got an idea for an episode, but not sure it’s the right one? Grab a coffee and run through this quick checklist. You’ll know within five minutes whether it’s worth making.
The best podcast release schedule is the one that you can stick to consistently and regularly. So, if you can only manage once a month, that’s fine. If you can manage every two weeks, even better. If you can manage weekly, then that’s about ideal.
An actual literal cave, and a Blue Yeti on 'Omnidirectional' setting. That must be the worst-sounding audio combo in history, right? But with this little hack, you can make it sound acceptable. Honestly!
Sometimes, distractions, overexcitement, or digressions ambush your podcast recording session. Whether the cause is fun with your co-host or your guest avoids interview questions, suddenly, your pulse elevates, and you wonder why you ever started podcasting to begin with. To quickly re-centre during recording sessions, try one (or more) of these five strategies.
As podcasters, we often find ourselves drawn to certain sounds that add a unique touch to our episodes. However, it's easy to get carried away and overuse them. Share your experiences and tips on how you strike a balance between creativity and restraint. Whether it's a quirky soundbite, a dramatic echo, or a soothing background ambience, we want to hear about it!
